Circuit simulation is a way of building and testing virtual models of electronic devices. It is usually cheaper and quicker to simulate a design than to build a prototype. MacSpice requires a text-file description of the circuit as input. This 'netlist' is a list of components and the nodes they connect to. IMiOSpice X is a „universal binary“ Mac OS X application that runs on Macintosh computers with PowerPC and Intel processors. If Mac OS X operating system is new to you, please consult the Mac OS X help. This short guide does not teach theory and practice of circuit simulation. It assumes familiarity with the basics of circuit design.
Electronic circuit simulators distributed under a free software license are available from several sources and for several computing platforms.
